I am a Slave

The story follows a 12-year-old girl named Malia who is abducted from her village in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan by a pro-government Arab militia. She is sold into slavery to a family in Khartoum, where she spends six years in absolute isolation and abuse. At age 18, she is trafficked to London on a forged passport, where her domestic servitude and exploitation continue under the threat that her family back home will be killed if she goes to the authorities.
