Family

Set in the summer of 2002, the story follows 11-year-old Johanna. Her family relocates to a suburban home so her terminally ill father, Harry, can receive better medical treatment. Struggling with extreme isolation, grief, and the heavy emotional toll weighing on her overburdened mother, Johanna tries to use a magical birdhouse to summon a good spirit to protect her dad. Instead, a malevolent entity responds. Johanna becomes deeply paranoid, convinced that a sinister presence has possessed her parents and that they are actively plotting to kill her. As her mental state fractures, she spirals into a surreal and terrifying fantasy world where the boundaries between childhood imagination, grief, and reality completely blur.
